If you live in interior Alaska, you know that Jen is like a celebrity in Fairbanks. She runs an extremely successful cookie artistry business, and she and her husband were on the show Buying Alaska. Her services are unique in the way that she takes custom orders and can help you design the perfect cookie for your occasion. Are you getting married, hosting a birthday party or graduation, or just having friends over for a get together? Jen can help you create something that will impress all. She has an adorable studio where she invites clients to a consult to design their order. She has tons of creative ideas, as well as over a thousand cookie cutters to customize your cookies. Jen has been putting her heart and soul into designing and baking cookies for around 8 years. Everything she makes is from scratch, including her jam filling and ganache. I love that she uses mostly natural ingredients that I can pronounce.
She is a very active member of our community, and loves to contribute to community fundraising efforts. She has a very generous heart and is always looking for ways to give back. Some of her donations have been received by SOAP, 100+ Golden Heart Women Who Care, BCDC, Go Red for Women, Make A Wish Foundation, Fairbanks Dog Park, BCureful: Mrs. Alaska Pageant, Jingle in July for the Arthritis Foundation, etc. She also invites local crafters to have their kitchen-related wares in her shop. She offers to sell on their behalf and no consignment fee is needed. It’s a great way to network with other crafters and artists. So far, she has had seamstresses making aprons and oven mitts, original oil paintings, crochet items, jewelry, and is open to anything that fits in with her shop and customers. She will also have some beautiful photographs of her cookie art on display soon.
I had the pleasure of photographing two of her most recent events; A Woman’s Affair and her Easter Open House. These events give the public an opportunity to buy individual cookies of all varieties. People were lined up waiting to get their favorite designs. My all time, hands down favorite is the sugarplum. I had a green apple one that had the most amazing texture and the perfect amount of delicious flavor. She always has events lined up, so be sure to “like” Kitchen Vixen on Facebook to stay informed.
